Recital at Bangor Cathedral
Before the busy month of December, I’ve had a lighter week and have reflected on my recital at Bangor Cathedral in early October. I sang a variety of early operatic music, featuring Handel, Vivaldi, Purcell and Monteverdi, and weaved in some Bach and Howells as well. Joe Cooper, the Cathedral’s Director of Music, accompanied me on the piano.
The recital was attended by a group of people who were partially sighted, and it was wonderful to talk to a couple of them afterwards. It was clear that music brought them a great deal of pleasure, especially in light of their sight being impaired, and it was a privilege to be able to perform to people who enjoy music so much. It reminded me that I’m very lucky to sing for a living and that music can help people in a wide variety of ways.
