Handel’s Messiah in Atherstone

On Saturday I sang the alto solos in Handel’s Messiah with Atherstone Choral Society, who are directed by Kevin Gill. It was a huge pleasure to return to the Midlands, where I grew up, and to sing for Kevin, who taught me piano from an early age. Messiah is a timeless piece which needs little introduction, but it remains a central part of any singer’s repertoire as Christmas approaches. I thoroughly enjoyed my day performing alongside such a welcoming choral society and to such an appreciative audience.
