Opera scenes

The week of my first set of opera scenes has arrived. This Friday I will sing Boy/Angel in a scene from George Benjamin’s Written on Skin. It has proved an enjoyable but challenging scene to set. The music is fascinating and discordant, and co-ordination of music and staging has been difficult at times. It is also a vocally challenging scene, spanning my entire vocal range!

I will also have a cameo role as Puck in the rehearsal scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This has been a late addition and has been good fun; I’ll even have the chance to throw some mushrooms whilst on stage.
